Estimates from last week put the number of damaged traffic radars at 1,600, around half of all French traffic radars. More than 250 traffic control devices were completely destroyed. The destruction will cost the government around 50 million euro a month in lost revenue.
France’s interior ministry didn’t comment on the number of radars damaged, but said major damage to the radars costs up to 200,000 euros to repair. Fines for damaging radars can run as high as 75,000 euros.
