Leaked emails from Niall Ferguson show what’s really going on in the campus free speech fight. Ferguson is a Stanford professor, known for his support of British colonial terror.
The latest campus free speech controversy involves the professor conspiring with the son of Obama’s National Security Advisor to dig up dirt on a progressive undergraduate student.
Ferguson was one of the faculty leaders of a Stanford program run by the conservative Hoover Institution. Ferguson seemed to view Michael Ocon, a left-wing student activist, as a threat to the program.
In an email to the son of Obama’s National Security Advisor, John Rice-Cameron, Ferguson wrote that “some opposition research on Mr. O [Ferguson’s name for Ocon] might also be worthwhile.”
Rice-Cameron, wrote in another email “slowly, we will continue to crush the Left’s will to resist, as they will crack under pressure.”
Ferguson wrote in another note, “now we turn to the more subtle game of grinding them down on the committee,” adding “the price of liberty is eternal vigilance.”
The emails became public as a result of someone accidentally forwarding them to the wrong person.
Ferguson remains a senior fellow at Hoover, the right wing think tank with a budget of more than $50 million and an endowment of nearly half a billion.
