The Roanoke County Board of Supervisors held a meeting Tuesday where they approved a new ordinance that will make it illegal if you have nowhere to go and, out of desperation, have to sleep in your car.
Roanoke County spokeswoman, Amy Whitaker, said it’s not a big problem, but existing ordinances only excluded people from sleeping in RVs and they wanted to expand the cruelty to people sleeping in cars.
The Board said people sleeping in cars makes neighborhoods look bad. If you’re caught living in your car, you face a fine. The ordinance went into effect immediately.
