Canada is warming up faster than the rest of the world, according to a report from the Canadian Environment and Climate Change Department.
“Canada’s Changing Climate Report” states Canada’s climate has and will continue to warm at double the rate of average global warming. The report also says since 1948, Canada’s average land temperature has increased by 1.7 degrees Celsius, or about 3 degrees fahrenheit.
The report found that temperature extremes have changed, with extreme warm temperatures increasing and extreme cold becoming less cold. Both flooding and freshwater shortages are expected to increase in Canada because of sea-level rise and increasing summer temperatures respectively.
