Biodiversity Crisis About to Put Humanity at Risk

According to a leaked draft of the global assessment report, up to 1 million species are at risk of annihilation, many within decades. The global assessment report on nature is compiled by the leading research body of the UN.

The 1,800-page report warns that people living today, future generations, and wildlife are all at risk unless urgent action is taken to reverse the loss of plants, insects and animals. The world’s leading scientists warn Earth’s life-support systems are approaching a danger zone for humanity.

The wording of the summary is being finalized by a gathering of experts and government representatives before its release on Monday.
