On Sunday, in an unprecedented power grid failure, a massive blackout left tens of millions of people without electricity in Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay and smaller areas of Chile and Brazil.
Government officials say electricity has been restored to 98 percent of Argentina, according to state news agency Telam. Power has also been restored to most of Uruguay and Paraguay.
The blackout occurred around 7 a.m. local time, when an Argentine interconnection system collapsed.
The Argentine energy company, Edesur, tweeted that the blackout originated at an electricity transmission point between the power stations at the Yacyretá dam and Salto Grande.
